God’s Grace and God’s Wrath: an existence or an escape?

Here we face the existential question: is our life defined by our sins? Is this why our faith in Gods and in destiny runs so deep? Because we are scared of the truth that we can never be cleansed of our bad deeds so we pray to God and avoid facing our past. We keep the faith that everything happens for a reason and that it was simply written in our destiny to do certain things, all just to come to the deluded conclusion that our actions have no literal or significant impact.

However, how much of our life is God’s grace or God’s wrath and how much of it is our own perception of the world and its standards of who we should be and what we should do?

Considering Nietzsche’s ‘God is dead’ theory, we can assume that even the real existence of God would not be enough for us humans to justify our blind faith in the concept. Our faith stems from a place of despair and meaninglessness that we feel because of the lack of belief in our own selves and lack of connection with the depth of our own souls. We pray for things to go right, to escape reality and get our ways, to manipulate situations out of our control or to get the blessings needed to succeed. However these are deeds either completely in our own hands or completely out of our control which is harshest truth for us to accept. In turn, we resort to theories about our purpose which revolve around the existence of God and the perception that God focuses on each of our lives, silently influencing every outcome based on our inner intentions that we can’t reveal to others.

However, I would like to criticise this faith and in the process, criticise myself too because even I admit in times, I have felt the claws of God on my head and I have felt a greater presence, however, this presence is in my own soul and it is only felt in my soul. Hence, I cannot understand this God from others’ views nor can they understand mine as it is not a collective presence that hovers over all but an individual one that exists in all, based on their own perceptions on things and how they perceive their lives.

We must question; what is this blind faith in the Gods giving us? A relief from their wrath? Are our prayers being listened to or do they only exist as inner desires in our soul? Do they ever leave the realm of our imagination and affect the situations of our life? Do they? Logically, philosophically, psychologically, through any form of concept that can be backed with evidence, is our faith in Gods and their supposed control over our lives possible? Is it justified? More than that, is it moral?

And what exactly is the concept of God’s wrath that we fear? And is this wrath unleashed by God or by our own selves? In every situation we must ask who the true culprit for our circumstances is, humankind as a whole or the existence of some omnipotent being that might or might not exist. Personally, I believe even if God existed, our blind faith does nothing to help us, real or not, we have been left on this earth and we, sometimes, in the routine of things forget that everything we’re doing has either a literal or a moral impact, as a collective humankind and as individuals with interpersonal relationships, we forget that we have been left on this earth and that since then, it has been wholly ours to change and influence. Either through words or actions or advancements in certain domains, we are all contributing to make a difference or rather progress the world. Whether this progress is good or bad, only the future shall uncover, but for now, we must understand everything we do is contributing to some part of progress or influence over the world and everything that changes, it is our own fault or it is completely out of our control and we cannot escape this essential truth. We cannot use God to escape it anymore.
